Jaidah Heavy Equipment – a subsidiary of the long-established Jaidah Group, held a Komatsu operators contest for the first time in Qatar.

The contest took place at the Royal tent ground by Al Soudan Signal, and was organized by Jaidah Heavy Equipment, and attended by Komatsu Middle East Managing Director, Mr. Kenichi Sato.

The objective of the competition between operators guiding the excavator is to test the stability, accuracy and calmness of the Komatsu excavator by carrying and moving a miniature golf ball. 

After successfully picking up the ball, the operators were required to place it in the designated spot and return the bucket to its starting position.

Ayman Ahmed, Managing Director of Jaidah Equipment, said: “The competition is a fun and light way of illustrating the Komatsu excavator’s stability and strength. Its viability was also reflected in the operator’s skills, thereby showing that such an accurate machine requires an accurate operator to ensure its efficiency, such event is to strengthen the engagement between the operators and Komatsu machines”

During the opening speech, statistics and growth of the Komatsu number of machines in the Qatari market were showcased.

Three out of 40 competing operators were announced as winners; these recorded the best three timings in completing the task of the competition. The winners were awarded with smart phones from Komatsu.

Ashraf Hasheesh, Komatsu General Manager-Marketing, said: “We’re pleased to be highlighting the strengths of another member of the Komatsu family. The Komatsu excavator qualities of viability and steadiness will definitely add to the high standard of construction products and services in Qatar.”

At the end of the event, Komatsu Managing Director handed over the outstanding market share achievement award to Ayman Ahmed representing Jaidah Group, for achieving the highest market share for heavy machinery in Qatar in 2014.
