Case CE, also Case Construction Equipment or simply Case, is a brand of construction equipment from CNH Global. Under this brand name, CNH Global is the fifteenth largest manufacturer of construction equipment globally.
The origins of Case can be traced back to 1842 in Racine, Wisconsin (USA), when Jerome Increase Case (born in 1819) created the J I Case Company. He is recognized as the first American to create a steam engine for agricultural use. His company evolved into the Case Corporation, which merged with New Holland in 1999 to become CNH Global. The combined CNH is in the top three in the world of both construction and agricultural equipment.
February 2007 marked the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the world’s first factory-integrated tractor loader/backhoe.

History of Case in the making 

1842: Case is founded by the inventor Jerome Increase Case.
1865: Old Abe begins his career as the most famous bird in construction and agriculture history as the trademark of the J.I. Case Company.
1869: Case constructs the first portable steam engine, leading to the birth of road construction. The original machine is on display at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.
1912: Case manufactures a complete line of road-building equipment, including graders and steam rollers for compacting road surfaces.
1941: During WWII, Case supplies more than 15,000 tractors to the U.S. military, including some of the first equipment put to work on the beaches of France following the D-Day invasion.
1957: The landmark Model 320, the industry's first factory-integrated loader/backhoe is launched.
1967: Case enters the excavator market.
1969: The first Case skid steer loaders are produced. Production begins in Burlington, Iowa, but later moves to Wichita, Kansas, where it continues today.
1977: Case acquires the French excavator producer Poclain.
1981: Case acquires Drott and enters the wheeled excavator market.
1982: Case celebrates the 25th anniversary of the first factory-integrated loader/backhoe with the introduction of the 580D.
1988: Case loader/backhoes are included in Fortune magazine's list of the “100 Products America Makes Best”.
1992: The brand celebrates its 150th anniversary and inaugurates its new operations building at the company's headquarters in Racine, Wisconsin.
1995: Case initiates co-branding and supply agreements with several key suppliers for power and application attachments as well as quick couplers.
1997: Case introduces the XT Series skid steers, the most powerful line-up in the market, with industry-leading lift, breakout force and hydraulic attachment capabilities.
1998: Case becomes the first manufacturer to offer ride control on loader/backhoes and skid steer loaders.
1999: Case introduces an extensive line-up of new products, including the C Series wheel loaders, 60 Series horizontal directional drills, G Series rough-terrain forklifts, as well as the 9007B excavator and 688G telescopic handler.
2000: Case introduces the new H Series crawler dozers and produces its 100,000th skid steer.
2001: Case introduces the first of its CX excavators, powerful new “thinking machines”, which use onboard intelligence to enhance productivity.
2005: The 500,000th tractor loader/backhoe is produced and the company presents the new 400 Series skid steer loader.
2006: Production begins on the new compact track loaders.
2007: Case celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first factory-integrated tractor loader/backhoe and undertakes a successful fundraising and awareness campaign for the non-profit group Habitat for Humanity.
2008: Jerome I. Case is inducted into the Association of Equipment Manufacturers' Hall of Fame.
2009: Case expands its the product range with the launch of seven new models in the B Series excavator range, a new version of the CX crawler excavator and a high-performance dozer.
2011: Case becomes the first construction equipment manufacture to offer both selective catalytic reduction and cooled exhaust gas recirculation as solutions toward meeting stringent U.S. Tier and Stage emissions standards. Also, Case engineer Elton Long, “father of the loader/backhoe,” is inducted into the Construction Equipment Hall of Fame by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers for significant contributions to the construction industry.
2012: The brand marks the milestone of 170 years in business, with Case products and support available to customers in more than 150 countries.
2013: Case launches the first Tier 4A/Stage IV excavators at the Bauma Show.
